All India MBBS 2nd Round Counselling process FAQs.
There are so many doubts & queries among the candidates & parents about the All India Quota MBBS 2nd Round Counselling / Admission process.
For clearing all such doubts, Mr.Ashoke Paskalraj has written this article, in a simple FAQs manner so that candidates can understand it better.
Q- Who can fill choices directly?
Ans-Already registered in Round one – Don’t need to register again whatever be the status of your Round one seat is. Login with same registration as Round one
Q- Who needs to register again?
Ans-Not registered in Round one- You can freshly register in Round two
Q- Who needs to RESET/ What is RESET?
Ans- RESET IS FOR CHANGE IN QUOTA (AIQ, Deemed, DU, BHU etc.).
In case you registered for Round one as AIQ only, and then wish to register as AIQ + Deemed (Pay 2lakhs again and reregister after reset).
In case you registered for AI R1 as Deemed only, and then wish to register as AIQ + Deemed (Pay 2lakhs again and reregister after reset).
In case you registered for AI R1 as Deemed only, and then wish to register as AIQ only (Pay 10k again and reregister after reset).
You cannot change from OBC to Gen during reset. Or EWS to Gen during reset. Or vice versa. Don’t reset for changing category.
In All India MBBS 2nd Round Counselling, You DO NOT NEED TO RESET TO FILL CHOICES UNDER THE SAME QUOTA AGAIN. You can fill in choices with the same login. Only if you wish to change the quota you need to reset.
Q- I want to upgrade from AI R1 joined (and continuing) seat? What should I do? (or) I wish to retain my AI R1 seat if I don’t get upgraded? What should I do?
• Everyone will start with a blank choice list. If you are willing to upgrade, you have to fill choices that are better than AI R1 seat (choices higher preference than AI R1 seat).
• You don’t need to fill AI R1 seat as the last option. If you don’t get any of the better choices filled then you will automatically retain your AI R1 seat.
• Even if a higher-ranked opts for your held AI R1 seat, he/she will get your AI R1 seat only if you upgrade to a better choice filled by you i.e. Only if you upgrade to a better seat of YOUR choice, your AI R1 seat will become vacant.
I took free exit in AI R1 / I was not allotted in AI R1 – I am not interested in an AI R2 seat and want a security deposit refund. What should I do?
• Don’t do anything. Your security deposit will be refunded within two months after the end of counseling.
Refund of fee from AI R1 institute (if you resign or if you upgrade in AI R2).
• Most institutes especially government refund fees with a minimal deduction or 10% deduction. Very few Deemed institutes may take time to refund AI R1 fee even if you upgrade in AI R2. So check with the institute and plan for this based on the institute’s response.
Choice filling Pointers in MBBS 2nd Round Counselling.
• Everyone will start with a blank choice list.
• Fill only those choices that you wish to join. If you are allotted a seat in AI Round 2 and do not join you lose the security deposit (5k/10k/2 lakhs).
Look for Errors (Repeating – from last round)
• Preferably use a laptop or a tab. Usage of mobile with a smaller screen view, no doubt results in higher chances of errors.
• Take effort, look at each choice, and check choices one by one. Write down if required (if possible!!) and cross-check. Most likely you will find one or two changes or decisions to make. This will reduce the “I thought I filled Choice A over Choice B, but I made a mistake” errors later.
• There are multiple institutes with the same names – verify institute locations before adding the options. A partial reference would be – Indira Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi Medical College, DY Patil, Kasturba, National Institute of, Regional Institute of, and all Government Medical colleges.
Timelines (Repeating – from last round).
• Choice locking would be possible only on the last day mostly. This is for your benefit.
• Save your choices regularly. You can modify the filled choices as many times before locking, or before the cut off time. Choices will be auto-locked even if you don’t lock. So saving your choices regularly reduces your stress.
• Don’t wait till the last minute to chop and change the order. Decide early and complete filling the choices at least a day in advance. You would not want to be troubled with “Server Not Available” errors on the last day. Last day, there will definitely be server overload and such issues. It adds to the pressure and may result in more confusion. Keep the last day for only the final validation.
• Print your choices after locking. Every year at least one or two candidates complain that their choices were processed in a different order than how they were filled. But none of them have ever come up with the printed choices list and justified it. The allotment is system-based and is foolproof. Believe the system.
POST ROUND 2 ALLOTMENT.
• If you Join AI R2 allotted seat (R2 upgraded or new).
◦ You cannot participate in any other counseling. Name list is shared with all counseling authorities.
◦ You cannot resign from the joined AI R2 seat, with or without penalty.
◦ AI R2 seat is your final seat through NEET 2020.
• If you don’t join AI R2 allotted seat (r2 upgraded or new),
◦ You will lose the security deposit (5/10k/2lakhs).
◦ You cannot participate in the stray vacancy round.
◦ And if you wish to participate in Deemed mop up you have to pay 2 lakhs again.
If you are registered under AIQ+Deemed (paid 2 lakhs), and you are allotted an AIQ seat and then don’t join the allotted AIQ seat, you will lose 2 lakhs (not 10k).
• If you retain the AI R1 seat after AI R2.
◦ If you don’t resign within 2 days of the AI R2 result you will not be able to resign and AI R2 JOINED rules will apply (name list shared).
◦ If you resign within 2 days of the AI R2 result you can attend other counselings
Mop-up Round
• There is no Mop-up for AIQ seats.
• Mop-up for Deemed & central university, all except AI R2 joined are eligible.
