Kasturba Medical College - Mangalore is a Deemed MBBS Medical College was established in 1955 ,the College is affiliated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Deemed University), Manipal with total intact of 250 MBBS & 343 Post MBBS MD/MS/ Diploma seats.
Kasturba Medical College Mangalore was established in the year of 1955 with start of used the medical facilities of the Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital.
In 1977 onwards Kasturba Medical College running independently and later KMC Hospital Attavar was established in 1992.
KMC was affiliated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Deemed University), with annual intake of 250 seats for MBBS course.
KMC Mangalore ranks is one of among the top 25 medical colleges in the country and Students from 45 countries have graduated from KMC and the degrees have been recognized worldwide.

Infrastructure
Kasturba Medical College is covered by 30.78 acres campus at Mangalore, Karnataka. For the purpose of first year students Center Basic Sciences was started at Bejai in 2001. Medical Education Unit is available that conducts an Orientation program for students, interns and postgraduates.
Library
The Kasturba Medical College Central Library was established in 1953. The library covered by 4100 sq.meters with three floors. It is fully air conditioned that has an Inside and outside reading rooms in the Library for students. Inside reading room has capacity for 460 persons and outside reading room has 290 capacity.
Staff reading rooms are also available in the Library. 50 persons can be read in that room. PG reading room is also available in KMC Library. Totally KMC Mangalore has 30648 books and 154 journals with 70 Indian journals and 84 foreign journals.
There is 52 internet nodes with internet connections are available. In additionally there is electronic subscription close to 2000 journals.
Hostel
Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore provides hostel accommodation, Mess, Hygienic hostel campus for students. It has nine hostels for boys and girls. Out of these, five are ladies hostels.
This hostels provided with Visitor room and Air Conditioned study room with internet and computer. Central photography section are available in KMC campus that has been required equipment and well trained staff.
KMCM hostels having 943 room with 1832 capacity for UG students, 131 rooms with 250 capacity for interns,193 rooms with 337 capacity for Resident PG and 170 capacity for Nurses.
It also has the Residential Quarters for Teaching staff and Non teaching staff with capacity of 97 and 49 vice versa. These hostels are having good water facilities and comfortable toilet facilities.
