The SS Institute of Medical Sciences & Research was established in 2006 with the approval of the State and Central Government.
The institution made a great start by organizing several national and national conferences and running a series of CME programs and is one of the leading science medical institutes in the state of Karnataka.

Infrastructure
SSIMS spreads over 130 acres on National Highway 4 which focuses on providing an environment that helps students promote learning and a positive value system.
It has world class infrastructure and learning resources that provide students with an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.
It has spacious Lecture halls that equipped with Air conditioned, audio-visual aids, e-class rooms with smart boards, well equipped laboratories and well connected campus networks.
Library
The SSIMS Library was built within the area of 4,100 square meters and can be accommodated for 900 students at a time. It provides a range of database access on the campus network, electronic resources and OPAC-related access to its more collection.
It has a separate audiovisual room, group study room and private study room. Student’s Inside and Outside reading room has the capacity of 150 students each and also 30 persons can be seated in Staff reading room.
SSMC Library has 12760 text books with 188 journals including 79 Indian journals and 109 Foreign journals. It also has 45 computers with Internet connection. Working hours of the Library starting from 9 am to 1 am
Hostel
The hostel have capacity for more than 500 students. The SSIMS hostel is located within the college campus with well-designed blocks for both boys and girls separately.
Each room has been provided with wardrobes, wooden cots, computer tables, shelves and chairs for inmates. There is Common room available for both boys and girls with television, newspapers and gym.
A well-designed common dining room and the food served on campus is exclusively vegetarian. The dedicated staff has been able to make an efficient and hygienic mess.

The SS Institute of Medical Science & Research Center is located in Davangere in the state of Karnataka. Davangere is the center of the state and is the seventh largest city, is dominated by the education and agricultural processing industry.
Davangere is connected to all of Karnataka and India by road and rail network. The college is located in the city center as the Davangere Main Bus Station 3 km away and there is a round a clock service.
Davangere railway station is one of the main railway stations in Karnataka located about 11 km from the college with a 30-minute drive. The nearest airport in the college is the Hubli International Airport, which is 132 km from the college and its good connected with other cities, and takes 2hours drive.
