Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences was started during 2005 in 25 acres of land, The total floor area available, including College, Boys Hostel and Girls Hostels, Doctors quarters, are available with comfortable accommodation and needed services.

The Teaching Hospital of the Medical College, The Government Mc. Gann Hospital constructed by British Administrator during 1880 in 70 acres.

The Shimoga Institute of Medical Science is fully equipped Laboratories, Auditorium, Museums, Lecture Halls, Gymnasium, Common Rooms. Examination Hall with 800sqm. and 300 capacity Here are 398 well educated and good experienced teaching faculties available.

Library

This Library is one of the repositories of medical knowledge providing and forming an integral part of the Shimoga Institution. Reference and subject books are rich in its new collection. This Library has 9422 books and 71 Indian journals and 30 foreign journals.

This is starting with the closed and open access system, which is using the latest technology for provision of information through various services. With dedicated services from Library staff providing the medical user community with the right medical information at right time.

They giving services like Books are available in Departmental Library, Journals Details, List of CDs available in the Central Library, SC / ST Books. Working time of this library is 8.00 am to 9.00 pm in all Monday to Saturday. There is totally 200 seating capacity in the textbook reference section.

Hostel

Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences provides the students who needed the Hostel Accommodation Facilities. Boys Hostel and Girls Hostels, Doctors quarters, about 34488 square meters. With needed services and comfortable accommodation facilities.

Boys hostel has 165 rooms and girls hostel has 165 rooms. The Hostel is Divide as Separately for the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Students. The Hostel is attached Mess with Dining Hall Facility.

It provides Clean and Healthy – Nutritious Food for both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Students and also this Hostel includes R.O Purified Drinking Water facility, Daily Newspaper in English & Kannada, with Recreation Hall and Prayer Hall along with a Separate Visitors Hall.

Students can get their needed services from the hostel management team, which helps them to get their things without struggle and they monitoring all students to avoid the problems between them. Wardens and helping staffs are working there for providing good services.
