Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College & Hospital has emerged as an excellent center in Medical Education, Training & Research activities at National level and Health Care Services especially to down trodden people at their door steps.
The extreme shortage of medical facilities promoted Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation to establish Medical College at Vilad Ghat, Ahmednagar in 2004. Under the able guidance and mature insight of the founder Padmabhushan Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, the institute has acquired remarkable achievements both in terms of academic & health services at the grass root level.
The College offers undergraduate course in Medicine ( MBBS ) with an intake of 150 students per year and Postgraduate Courses in 15 Disciplines.The institute is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi in 2009 and is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.
The Medical complex is situated in an area of 33 acres in the beautiful scenario of Vilad Ghat, Ahmednagar. Added to this, over 860 bedded Dr. Vikhe Patil Memorial Hospital with state of the art labs, equipments as well as other facilities and four primary Health centers namely Dehare, Jeur, Walki and Mehekari, One Urban Health Center at Burudgaon and one Rural Health Training Center at Bhalawani for undergraduate training, where the patients are treated at subsidised rates.

Infrastructure
Vikhe Patil Medical College has 6 Lecture Theatres. Out of these, four Theaters are used by Medical College and another one is used by Hospital. In that, Medical College Theaters having 180 seating Capacity of students and Hospital hall having 200 seating capacity of students. This Lecture Theatre has an LCD with a LAN facility and LCD projector. It also has 2 Examination Halls with a seating capacity of 250 students each. This Examination hall also acts as an Auditorium for Meeting purposes. This hall is well equipped with CCTV and Mobile jammers and also fully Air conditioned
Libary
The library was established in 2002 when the college became operational. It has made steady progress annually and has a growth collection of 13,492 medical books subscribed to 100 journals annually in various medical disciplines. The total area of the library is 2415.05 sq.ft. Mts. It provides an open access system. The students inside and outside the reading room have a seating capacity of 180 students and the staff reading room has a seating capacity of 30 rooms and the PG room has 40 seating capacity. There are 40 internet nodes available with wifi facility.
It also has 15 video cassette rooms. The VKPMC library contains 10895 books, including 70 Indian journals and 30 foreign journals for student’s reference. Moreover, it has various e-journals and IP based subscribers. The latest editions of books and the latest travelogues are organized by subject and are available for reading on the library premises
Hostel
VPMC, Ahmednagar is located within the hostel premises. This hotel has good water facilities and a hygienic accommodation complex. The Hostel has an air-conditioned visitor room, air-conditioned study room with internet and computer, hygienic food and toilet facilities. The UG hostel has a capacity of 697 students, Interns rooms have a capacity of 183 students, Residents quarters having a capacity of 88students. It also has a resident for 100% able PG students. There are residential apartments for teaching and non-teaching staff.
There is a 291capacity for Nurses. For the benefit of the students staying in the hostel, immediate first aid facilities are also provided for the sick rooms. The ambulance is provided immediately for students who need admission during working hours and for those who need emergency admission, which reaches the hostel within 5 to 10 minutes.

How to reach
Ahmednagar is located in the Indian state of Maharashtra which is about 120 km from Pune and 114 km from Aurangabad. It was near the site of the village of Pinker. After the break-up of the Bahmani Sultanate, Ahmad established a new sultanate in Ahmednagar, also known as the Nizam Shahi dynasty. The city is a relatively small town and shows less growth than the nearby cities of western Maharashtra, Mumbai, and Pune and has 19 sugar mills and the birthplace of the co-operative movement. Ahmednagar is well connected by air with seaplane service.
The port for the seaplane is located in the Mula Dam Reservoir, about 30 minutes from the city of Ahmednagar. Now the new airport has been launched at Shirdi, 80 km from Ahmednagar, and is the only airport in the district. Ahmednagar Railway Station belongs to the Solapur section of the Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. There is still a demand for direct rail connectivity with other major cities in India.
Ahmednagar is well connected by road with major cities and other states of Maharashtra. The National Highway passes through 222 cities from Kalyan to Nirmal near Adilabad in Telangana. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and various private transport directors provide bus services connecting the city to all parts of the state.
